SWEDEN is a Scandanavian country in northern Europe.

Population

When Doctor Who screened in Sweden in the early 1990s, the population was XXXXXXXXXXX and licensed TV sets numbered XXXXXX (per WRTH, 1990).

TV & system

Sweden began its television service in 1956.

There is just one television station: Sveriges Television AB, a government-owned commercial broadcaster.

Colour transmissions began in XXX using the PAL colour broadcast system.

Language/s

The main language of Sweden is Swedish, although English is also spoken. Foreign programmes are subtitled.

Sweden was the 14th country in Europe to screen Doctor Who (see Selling Doctor Who).


BBC Records

Sweden is not recorded in any known BBC Records. According to the Australian fanzine, Data Extract (issue 150), Tom Baker's first season aired there in 1997.
