- 1978: The Tom Baker stories first aired in an afternoon timeslot, then shifted to 1.30am after poor ratings.
- 1979-1981: Channel 5 screened Tom Baker stories on weekday afternoons until at least 1981.

- 1982: Channel 2 screened the first wave of Tom Baker stories from January 1982, Monday to Friday at 5.00pm; the timeslot later changed to 5.30pm.
- 1983: The series moved to Fridays at 10.30pm with the compilation editions. A second compilation was eventually added to the schedule, on Saturday nights. In late 1986, the series aired on Saturdays only, at 10.00pm.
