The surviving location footage and studio recordings plus specially-filmed additional material was released on VHS video in 1992.
A "flash animation" adaptation with a newly-recorded soundtrack (by Big Finish Productions, using different actors in several of the roles) was released on the BBC Online website in 2003.

Novelisation
- The story was novelised by Gareth Roberts, published by BBC Books in March 2012.
- The book was later translated into several languages, and published in Italy, France, Hungary, Brazil, Turkey, China, Germany, Czech Republic, and Russia, between 2013 and 2016.
Reconstruction
- The story was officially reconstructed using animation to replace all the missing material (edited into an omnibus rather than episodically) and released as a digital download and on DVD in 2017.
- 19 July 2018: BBC America aired the omnibus restoration at 8pm. It was also given the title "Doctor Who: The Lost Episode" in some press coverage and online listings.
