  • 25 October 1977: WNED screened Doctor Who, weeknights at 6.30pm in tandem with WXXI (from 1977 through until 1987). It was during screenings of the Jon Pertwee stories in 1977/78 that off-air recordings were made by Tom Lundie, which were later instrumental in the reconstruction from black and white back into colour.
  • 1979: The series aired weeknights at 6.00pm.
  • 1990: In the 1990s, Doctor Who aired in omnibus movie form, Saturdays at 4.00pm. The 17 repackaged William Hartnell stories were played for the second time during this run.

  • 24 September 1992: The SCI-FI Channel launches, Thursday, 24 September, at 8.00pm (EST). Included in its regular schedules is Doctor Who: screening from 12.00 to 1.00pm weekdays, the hour-long timeslot allows for the episodes to screen uncut, but with ads and short programming filling the rest of the hour. That episode was then repeated at 1.00am.
  • To give one example of the extreme scheduling of Doctor Who on the Sci-Fi Channel, The Ambassadors of Death was purchased for ten screenings!
