Classic Doctor Who on BritBox

Doctor Who is available around the world on a number of subscription-based, pay-per-view and freeview platforms such as TV-on-demand and streaming services.

Digital copies of the new series are available to buy or rent from sites such as:

While the full run of New Series episodes (2005 to date) is readily available on most online providers, rights restrictions limit what Classic series stories can be accessed. Since the core list of stories across the various platforms was virtually identical, the BBC must have cleared the "streaming rights" to those serials to make up the basic package minimum.

Most of the stories featuring the Daleks were absent from the menus due to ongoing rights restrictions. And most bizarrely, some of the providers who offered the Key to Time season couldn't supply all the serials, with The Stones of Blood usually the one that was missing.

Only one site that we know of had the rights to the entire back-catalogue of Classic series stories, and that was BritBox. BBC Store was a close second, having most of but not all the 1963 to 1989 run of stories on its menu for the brief period that it was operating.

Currently (as at late 2019), the New Series and a selection of Classic serials can be viewed on a number of online providers, although some of these sites are region-locked for the US and/or UK only.

The ones that offered the Classic series and have a dedicated page are linked below:
