The Middle East is a region that covers the north east of Africa through to Arabia and the Persian Gulf. Arabic is the principal language spoken in Middle Eastern countries.

The BBC sold Doctor Who to several Middle Eastern countries from 1967 to 1969 (William Hartnell stories), and in the mid-1970s, Jon Pertwee stories and Tom Baker stories.
