• 25 October 1977: WNED screened Doctor Who, weeknights at 6.30pm in tandem with WXXI (from 1977 through until 1987). It was during screenings of the Jon Pertwee stories in 1977/78 that off-air recordings were made by Tom Lundie, which were later instrumental in the reconstruction from black and white back into colour.

• 1979: The series aired weeknights at 6.00pm.

• 1982: Starting with the Peter Davison stories, the series moved to Saturdays.

• 1987: Part-way through the run of William Hartnell stories, WNED screens The Trial of a Time Lord; it is the first station in the US to screen this story.

• 1987 WNED completes its screening of the William Hartnell stories and Patrick Troughton stories by September 1987.

• 1990: In the 1990s, Doctor Who aired in omnibus movie form, Saturdays at 4.00pm. The 17 repackaged William Hartnell stories were played for the second time during this run.

• 1991: By February 1991, Doctor Who had been dropped.

• 1978: 7 October 1978, 6.30pm, Tom Baker makes his debut in New York State. WOR-TV (aka WWOR) was one of the earliest stations in the United States to broadcast the Tom Baker stories.

• Stories aired in production order, so The Sontaran Experiment proceeded The Ark in Space.

• 1979: From 6 January 1979, the series shifted to the earlier time of 5.00pm, but was often pre-empted by baseball.

• 1982: From August 1982 to October 1983, two episodes aired back to back, Saturdays between 10.00am and 11.00am.

• 1983: The series aired in one-hour slots, at 10.00pm on Saturdays.

• 1991: By February 1991, Doctor Who had been dropped.

Sci-Fi Channel

• 24 September 1992: The SCI-FI Channel launches, Thursday, 24 September, at 8.00pm (EST). Included in its regular schedules is Doctor Who, to be screened from 12.00 to 1.00pm, six days week. The hour-long timeslot is to allow for the episodes to screen uncut, but with ads and short programming filling the rest of the hour. That episode was then to be repeated at 1.00am.

• The station cites that due to contractual reasons are not able to screen the Jon Pertwee stories or Tom Baker stories, and that it will run the series from the very beginning, starting with An Unearthly Child – HOWEVER the first story to screen is Robot!

• After The Power of Kroll, the series looped back to Robot. This "jump" subsequently occurred two more times.

• 1993, November: As part of a three-day 30th Anniversary "Event", The Five Doctors – the only non-Tom Baker story to screen on SCI-FI – K9 and Company and "The Making of Silver Nemesis documentary are aired - SIX times!

• December 1993: SCI-FI channel drops Doctor Who.
