- 25 November 1978: The series stops airing after ten weeks.

- 11 January 1987: The Colin Baker stories air.
- 1 March 1987: The 17 repackaged William Hartnell stories begin.
- 30 August 1987: The 24 repackaged Jon Pertwee stories begin airing.
- 2 October 1987: One last move, to Fridays at 10pm.
- 26 February 1988: Doctor Who go off the air for 11 months, returning on WMVS's sister station, WMVT.

Channel 36 (PBS)
- 30 January 1989: Channel 36 begins a complete run of Doctor Who, from An Unearthly Child to The Trial of a Time Lord, weekdays at 10pm. Each episode from the week is repeated Sundays at 1:00, 1:25, 1:50, 2:15 and 2:40pm.
- 31 October 1989: Began airing Planet of the Daleks. Episode three was skipped, episodes 4-6 were renumbered 3-5.
- 29 January 1991: Doctor Who ends.
